Indulge in the rich, caramelized flavor of homemade pecan pralines. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create these delightful treats that are sure to impress family and friends.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup pecan halves
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

Begin by preparing your work area. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.

In a medium saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar, heavy cream, and butter. Place over medium heat and stir until the sugars dissolve and the mixture starts to boil.

Allow the mixture to boil without stirring for about 4-5 minutes, or until it reaches a soft ball stage (about 238°F or 114°C on a candy thermometer).

Once the desired temperature is reached, remove the saucepan from heat. Stir in the pecan halves, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix until the pecans are well coated.

Using a spoon or a small ice cream scoop, drop spoonfuls of the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet. Allow them to cool at room temperature until set, about 30 minutes.

Once completely cooled, enjoy your homemade pecan pralines! Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature.
