These delightful fruit turnovers are a perfect way to enjoy a sweet treat with minimal ingredients. Flaky pastry envelops a flavorful fruit filling, making them an easy yet impressive dessert for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen fruit (such as berries, apples, or peaches), chopped
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)

Instructions

Start by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C).

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry to smoothen it if needed. Cut the pastry into 4 equal squares or circles, depending on your desired shape.

In a medium bowl, combine the chopped fruit, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until the fruit is well-coated with the sugar and vanilla.

Place a generous tablespoon of the fruit mixture in the center of each pastry square or circle. Be careful not to overfill, as this can cause the turnovers to burst during baking.

Fold the pastry over to form a triangle or half-moon shape, sealing the edges by pressing them together with a fork or your fingers. Make sure the turnovers are sealed well to prevent the filling from leaking out.

Brush the tops of the turnovers with the beaten egg to give them a beautiful golden color as they bake.

Place the turnovers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until they are puffed up and golden brown.

Once baked, remove the turnovers from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. If desired, dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Enjoy these simple yet flavorful fruit turnovers warm or at room temperature!
